Thierry

Thierry’s career at Supratec

"I joined CISTHE (former Supratec brand) in September 1991 as a Machine Operator and did that until 1993.
I then became Workshop Manager until 2000, where I was managing around 30 people.
From 2000 to 2008, I held the position of Workshop Manager, where I was given more responsibility towards personnel and clients.
And since 2008, I’ve been Site Manager for Supratec."

A few words about his profession

"I work for printed circuit manufacturers with the following distribution:
· 80% of current production in subcontracting for printed circuit manufacturers
-Lapping of micro-drills for piercing printed circuits
-Creating aluminium thermal drains
-Fabrication re-work on printed circuits
· 20% of production is carried out for projects from the JMD workshop in Bondoufle
-Machining of aluminium nameplates
-Creation of products in aluminium and resin
-Laser marking"

His daily routine

"I manage, pre-empt (tool purchase, execution procedure), follow and respond to all technical aspects of the three main activities on site (lapping, machining and bonding).
I reply to all quote requests and manage the various emails.
I also manage the maintenance part at machine level. And, if necessary, that might even include ordering parts for specific machines (laser machines).
I also oversee that client order time frames are met.
And lastly, I take care of resolving problems in our workshop in Tunisia, if there are any, potentially working 7 days a week."

His most memorable project

"Without a doubt, my most memorable project was starting up the Machining activity in May 2010.
This diversification was necessary, at the risk of closing the site.
Lapping and trading had decreased a lot since 2010 due to the relocation of printed circuit manufacturers. Starting up the machining activity was therefore vital, and above all, a very interesting project."

His next challenge

"Today, machining is mainly carried out with aluminium. I hope to implement stainless steel machining. That activity is currently sub-contracted by JMD Bondoufle at the client’s request. The idea is to connect this activity directly to Supratec. It’s a project for 2018 with true methodology, tests and trials because there is technical expertise to be gained in order to re-establish this activity 100%."

A final word from Thierry

"I’ve been in the company for nearly 27 years, and I feel extremely fulfilled.
I started from basically nothing, and today I’m the manager of the site. My line manager trusted me and that was the main reason for feeling happy in my job."
